We are in mid November and the winter is closing in on us here in California, now some might say California is not to bad but I live in San Joaquin Valley and it get pretty hot here and it can get just as cold. Very recently i added some insolation in my Shop and the temperature in the heat of the summer did not exceed F 92. Now i would like to see what the winter temperature would be. My main concern is the contractions that might take place in my woo stock on the shelve.
I was thinking of adding a oil heater to the shop instead of a air heater. The air heater is noisy, dries out the air and with all the dust is might be a fire hazard. I will have to experiment with the size of the heater since I don#39;t rally know what the ideal temperature need to be. I don#39;t mind the cold but if your hand is not freezing you might feel more comfortable and would resist the urge to speed up that may cost you a finger or even more catastrophic a hand.
I enjoy working on the lath and end up spending a significant chunk of time in the shop. If I could raise the temperature with a few degrees, that would we just fantastic. Thiswould allow me to concentrate on the turning and not the could. If we have a few worm day it might just heat the shop enough to reduce the need fire up the heater. Well have to see what this winter have in store for us….
